ABOUT KATHY KENNEDY QUILTS
Artist's Statement
I have enjoyed working with colorful fabrics since my mother taught me to sew when I was around 10 or 11 years old. I have been sewing all my life but always wanted to make quilts. We didn't have many old family quilts, but I have always been drawn to them, amazed by the tiny hand stitches, imagining what the quilter was thinking or experiencing as she stitched.
I made a bed size quilt on my home sewing machine many years ago and realized how time consuming this hobby was. Being a working mother with two children, I told myself that when I was retired I would make quilts! After I retired I made several quilts for friends and family and began to sell some of my quilts. I also create quilts using my husband, artist Ira Kennedy's fabric panels using the One Block Wonder method. This creates beautiful kaleidoscope blocks that surround the panel.
Creating art quilts is perhaps my number one favorite method of working with fabrics. I use a variety of methods, including fabric collage and applique.
MY QUILTS
I make One Block Wonder quilts with my husband Ira Kennedy's fabric panels. These are not for sale but a selection of my art quilts are for sale. You can view all of my quilts from the menu above - Bed and Throw Size and Art Quilts. Quilts for sale are marked "For Sale." If you wish to purchase one of my quilts available for sale, please use the "Contact Me" form below. Thanks for your interest!
NOTE: All sizes for quilts are approximate; all art quilts have a hanger on the back, unless mounted on canvas. If you wish to see a quilt in person or more photos, please contact me.
